Bikram Yoga El Paseo

BIKRAM YOGA PALM DESERT – EL PASEO is  very  THANKFUL and GRATEFUL  these days!!!

Our little studio was able to stay open due to all the love and energy of the  loyal core group and is now stronger than ever!!!  We’re adding new students to the family daily and keeping the “fire” of enery building with momentum!!

We  also have very special students to go along with our very special studio!!  We have students like Jay Mirpour always energetically brainstorming to make this studio better than ever. We have students like Robin Hendricks who are constantly giving back and helping out with her own personal time!!  We have dedicated,  caring  teachers.   We have generous selfless students like Bruce Boisvert, sharing his boat and hosting what shall be an AMAZING FIRST PARTY for the studio to honor our challengers, honor our new teachers, and allow our incredible group to bond during one of the most celebrated times of the year:  CHRISTMAS!!!

We received a special surprise this past THANKSGIVING.   On Thanksgiving day with a packed class and  a  particularly  elevated  energy and excitment level,  a  new  “student” walked in to take class. While everyone was hugging and wishing their fellow yogis a happy Thanksgiving,  I was getting this “student” registed.  He mentioned he was a certified Bikram teacher!!

   I’ll be honest,  and with no disrespect to Bikram teachers (myself included ) — I wasn’t overly impressed.   With headquarters pumping out 800+ teachers a year,  training being in our back yards, and the desert having our fair share of teachers passing through,  a certified teacher coming in to take class is now  comonplace. 

I welcomed him to the studio and told him his class was complimentary.    As I asked him where he was from  my perceptions began  working overtime.  He said he was originally from NY but now based in LA but was not forthcoming with details.     My gut told me that there was just something different about him that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.  

I didn’t teach that class but I practiced on the opposite side of the room of my guest,   and even though my vision was impaired with all the bodies inbetween us, I couldn’t help but notice a  special vibe coming from his side of the room!   I felt the need to fall out of focus with my own practice to watch him. What I  was able to see of his personal  practice was  pretty amazing.  I remember thinking , ” this is not an ordinary certified Bikram Yoga instructor. ”  

After class, I went on a hunch and asked this student / teacher to guest teach while he was in town. He said YES , but qualified it :  “I must tell you that this probably wont be the typical class that you are accustomed to and if you are one of those studio owners that only wants dialogue driven instructors, you may not want me to teach!!   I always try to think outside of the box so  I  went with my gut!!

ENTER     TAVI   STUTZ !!!   His Class was BIKRAM YOGA PERSONIFIED!!   Shedding light on sooooo many intricacies where our practice falls short!!   

Tavi has a very extensive resume`.  He toured with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Berzerk,  and was in the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow .  With focus, concentration, perfect spinal alignment, and core strength in COMPLETE syncronization with the breath being key to perfection in performing at his level, he meshes this knowledge with the already incredible  Bikram series!!  

Fortunately for us, Tavi always returns to his Bikram roots, whether as a student or a teacher he has shined such a special light at BYPD-EL Paseo!!!   AND NOW………Tavi agrees to officially become a part of our studio.  He will be coming back on a regular basis  inbetween his lifes adventures to continue to lift our spirits and tweak our spines!!!
