Bikram Yoga El Paseo

Men are from Mars,  Women are from Venus…………..and it’s no different in the hot room.

Camaraderie amongst us Bikram teachers is at an all time high here at BYPD- El Paseo.  We have a really great group of certified Bikram teachers that truly love and care about each other.  We have fun together in and out of the hot room and have even developed a really neat comfort level.

Giving each other constructive feedback is encouraged and well received.

So much so that teacher  Laura Unalivia affectionately pointed out to her male counterpart, Tom Dean:  Here’s the difference between the girl and the guy.  We (us girls)  end class with a flowery closing statement as we leave the room announcing the gift of  ” cold, lavender infused spa towels.”   You (Tom)  leave the room somewhat abruptly,  stating , “I’ll be back with your wash cloths.”

Today, at the end  of  the 10am class   Tom announces ,  “I have a special gift for all of you that is world famous!!   No other studio that I know does this. You’ll see.  I’m bringing you  ‘cold,  lavender infused spa towels.’      He then  pauses, flashes a big smile (that only Tom can do)  at Angelina and myself  and adds,  ” how did I do??”

When I recovered laughing, I couldn’t decide what was more typical of a guy, the wordiness to try to cover all bases in his closing statement or the half sarcastic/half ‘I need to know now’ approval issue.

YES,  MEN are from Mars!!

In Venus we have wonderful lavender infused spa towels that are made with love and help deepen your  final savasana as you “connect the dots between the physical, the mental and  the spiritual”  self.

In Mars they have wash cloths.  At least they’re cloths and not rags…………could always be worse.  They are happy.  They are simple.   They are simple but happy!!

Hope to see you in the hot room soon enjoying whatever the heck it is that you put over your eyes and face as you lay in final savasana enjoying the fruits of your labor,allowing your blood pressure to normalize, and today appreciating a sense of humor that has wormed its way into our hearts!!!
