Bikram Yoga El Paseo

They crossed the line and finished their challenge.  Their dedication, determination and camaraderie  was  incredible!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR AMAZING 30 DAY CHALLENGERS!!

Twice a year Bikram Yoga Palm Desert El Paseo hosts a THIRTY DAY CHALLENGE whereby students sign up to challenge themselves  to complete 30 consecutive days of PURE  Bikram Yoga.  Some even continue on and complete a 60 day challenge!

This is no small feat.  It’s much more difficult than  challenging oneself to a month of varied activity because of the highly therapeutic nature of the Bikram series and the deep internal detox involved.

Students not only improve their physical health and well being   they gain better focus and mental clarity.  THEY ARE FORCED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR.  The mirror is a powerful tool.  The image staring back at you may not always be favorable and not necessarily  from a physical standpoint.

All of our challengers completed the challenge with mental and physical strength and emerged renewed and refreshed.  I could share a little something of significance with the personal breakthroughs of all of our challengers,  but the focus of this blog is on just one.

The Journey  of  Jimmy Palmer!!

Known as JP or  the Guitar ER,  he’s been a bright star around the studio these days!!  Jimmy signed up for previous challenges but this challenge was very different!

Jimmy took a personal interest in the rest of the challengers.  He gave them energy when they needed it. He accepted theirs during times of struggle.  He embodied the whole experience whole heartedly.  He along with others learned that we are never alone in our life’s  experiences and journeys,  but rather there is strength in UNITY.

Half way through  the challenge I noticed an extra stone in our Zen Garden.

Two and a half years ago when I redid the landscaping to include a Buddah -Zen Garden,  my purpose was to make a serene aura for students to feel comfortable.  I’ve had harried students run up minutes before class  would start  to try to squeeze in their “me” time.  I often hear them say how they felt an instant calm just seeing the garden.

Jimmy took ownership of  our  garden a step further.  Placing his own intention stones within the garden as he moved through his own personal journey.

Three quarters through the challenge I received a really neat message from Jimmy, an excerpt of which  he has given me the permission to share:

“How about calling the next 30 day challenge,  a 30 day opportUNITY!!! We’re all in it together  “UNITY”   sweating it out progressing through the progression, perceiving the octave of life with love!  It’s so nice to have joy in my heart again!!”

Jimmy’s  placement and sharing of his own personal intention stones,  the  personal  thought invoking message he sent to me during the challenge,   and his selflessness of building camaraderie with his fellow challengers  truly makes Jimmy our STAND OUT STUDENT  for this past challenge!!

Jimmy would add two new intention stones to our Buddah-Zen Garden by the time the challenge was complete.

To those of you who always wanted to complete a 30 day challenge,    let  Jimmy be your inspiration.  No small feat but what an amazing,  rewarding  experience.

You don’t need an organized thirty day challenge to set your own personal goals, although participating in at least one of these in your lifetime is an experience you will never forget!!

EVERY DAY is an opportUNITY  for personal growth, challenge and change!
